Riverstone Holdings LLC and the management team of Babcock & Brown's North American Energy Group confirmed the purchase of the wind development portfolio from Babcock & Brown LP to form Pattern Energy Group LP. Pattern Energy will be an independent, fully integrated energy company that develops, constructs, owns and operates renewable energy and transmission assets across North America and parts of Latin America.

Iberdrola Sells Chilean Hydro Stakes
Chilean energy company CGE, through its CGE Generación subsidiary, is to acquire stakes in two hydroelectricity companies in Chile as part of an asset divestment programme by Spanish group Iberdrola.

Solar Liberty To Install 1.1-MW System in Buffalo
New York Power Authority (NYPA) president and CEO Richard Kessel said that he will be seeking approval of a US $7.5 million contract for the installation of a 1.1-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the University at Buffalo (UB). According to the plan, the bulk of the work to be undertaken by Western New York firm Solar Liberty.

Yingli To Supply SDIC Huajing with 10 MW of Solar PV Panels
Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited has been selected by SDIC Huajing Power Holding Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of the State Development and Investment Corp. (SDIC), to supply solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for a 10-megawatt (MW) on-grid solar plant in Dunhuang, Gansu Province.

US DOI Fast-Tracking Initiatives for Solar Energy on Federal Lands
Under initiatives announced by Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and U.S. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), federal agencies will work with western leaders to designate tracts of U.S. public lands in the West as prime zones for utility-scale solar energy development, fund environmental studies, open new solar energy permitting offices and speed reviews of industry proposals.

SolarCraft Donates Solar Electric System
SolarCraft of Novato donated a SunPower Electric Solar Energy System at the fifth Annual Sonoma Valley Muse Auction and Benefit on May 30, 2009. The winning bid was the highest of the night, at $8,000 and all proceeds will benefit cultural education programs. The auction package includes SolarCraft's professional installation by solar energy experts that have been serving the North Bay for 25 years.

Perpetual Power Completes 1-MW Solar-Powered Water Pumping Systems
Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA Inc. and Perpetual Power (P2) have completed the installation of four solar-powered deep water wells at Limoneira Company's Ducor Ranch in California. The four 250-kilowatt (kW) solar arrays that make up the proejct include single-axis tracking systems which are expected increase power output of each array by 15%.

The Washington State Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development ("CTED") yesterday released a summary of legislative actions from 2003 to 2009 that provide state bioenergy incentives. The summary covers production and tax incentives, public sector production, financial assistance, expedited permitting, and distribution and use incentives.
